While it’s ideal to get all of the vitamins and minerals we need from food, that’s not always realistic. We believe adding multivitamin-mineral supplements to our routines isn’t evil – it helps us have confidence that, if we don’t have the perfect day of eating, we’re still getting most of the vitamins and minerals we need.
According to research from Purdue, storing multivitamin-mineral supplements in the bathroom or areas in the kitchen that are humid (e.g., near the dishwasher, a window, etc.) can cause them to lose their effectiveness. The investigators recommend storing supplements in areas with little heat or humidity. Even storing them in the fridge or freezer can work well.
It helps us to keep them in a place that’s top of mind … whether at a work desk, the end of the kitchen counter, or wherever else reminds us to take them while steering clear of excess humidity.
